Interim Talent:
The Missing Link for Economically Challenged Marketers
Today’s marketing professionals face the ultimate challenge: enhance performance with fewer staff members and less money. Every day news headlines report layoffs while a recent survey by the Association of National Advertisers reveals that 87 percent of marketers have reduced their budgets.
Meanwhile, these same companies are desperate to retain sales – and even to grow market share. Although the solution to this conundrum is complex, smart businesses have discovered one significant piece of the puzzle: hiring interim marketing professionals.
Considering the value of interim employees for your business? These guidelines may help:
From the desk of Karen Nichols:
- What are you working on now?
I am working with an account team at Coca-Cola to plan their next sweepstakes program on My Coke Rewards and the activations for an upcoming customer event. Also, I am assisting another account team to make necessary arrangements for a high-profile industry convention.
- What has been your favorite position/project so far?
It would be too difficult to pinpoint my favorite project. What I enjoy most is the variety in my work. One month I may be focused on a customer special event covering everything from refreshments & new product sampling to entertainment and special consumer or employee activations. The next month, I may be focused on developing a marketing program tied to a major motion picture release filled with cups, popcorn bags and Point of Sale design to a multi-facetted sweepstakes incorporating text messaging and Facebook. The variation provides the opportunity to broaden my experience and helps me keep a fresh perspective.
- How has freelance marketing “addedCHANGE” to your life?
I love working from home. This type of freelancing allows me to maximize each day to better meet my professional and personal responsibilities.
